MCQC Quality Care Award given to Hank and Phyllis Krambeck, Kirksville, MO., for their advocacy work in improving quality of care and quality of life for nursing home residents.

MCQC Humanitarian Award presented to Officers and Paramedics of the University City Fire Department for their heroic efforts in responding to the crisis at Leland Health Care facility of University City on April 9, 2001, where four residents died from excessive heat. Members who responded were Deputy Chief Steve Olshwanger, Paramedic/Fire Captain James Clayton, and Paramedic Firefighters Laurie Taylor, Dave Larkin, Dave Wall and Bob Rump.

MCQC Public Service Award presented to St. Louis Post/Dispatch reporter Phil O’Connor for his outstanding coverage of the Leland Health Care Tragedy and other reporting of elder abuse/neglect.


MCQC Quality Care Awards were presented by Phyllis Krambeck, MCQC VP, to Marilyn Powell, Administrator of Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville, and Joyce Storjohann, Social Service Director of Ashley Manor Center in Boonville. Ms. Powell was recognized for her 32 years of service, demonstrating total commitment to the well being of her facility’s residents, and Ms. Storjohann was honored for the 12 years she has served in total devotion to the residents of the Boonville facility. Also pictured is Larry Crawford, Missouri State Representative.

MCQC award to Nancy Scriven of Kirksville, MO. Nancy received a sculpture in recognition for the many volunteer hours she devoted to residents of Twin Pines Adult Care Center.

MCQC Appreciation Award was presented to Chad Jordon, for his vision, devotion and loyalty, and his tireless efforts to further the mission and goals he set forth in establishing the Missouri Coalition for Quality Care.

2003


The Betty Joe Finney Award was established upon the death of former MCQC board member for Ms. Finney’s many years of faithful service and her commitment to the organization. She worked tirelessly for reform of nursing home care and for the betterment of her community. The first award of this series was presented to her daughter, Barbara Finney of Kansas City by MCQC’s vice president, Phyllis Krambeck.


Truman State University students and members of Eta Sigma Gamma receive Recognition Certificates for their work in the Student Ombudsman Program.
