The definition
of a Class I violation is:
A violation which presents an imminent danger to the health, safety or welfare of
any resident or a substantial probability that death or serious physical harm
would result. This is the most severe classification of State deficiencies. If
an inspection results in any Class I violations, inspectors will revisit the
facility within 20 days.
The list shows the following information: Name of the facility, city where it is
located, total number of Class I violations since 2003 and the date of their
last Class I violation. To find out what the Class I violations for the facility
are you will need to check our Violations page for the specific information.
The list is not saying that because a facility has had 5 Class I violations that
it is a bad facility, it merely indicates they have had several violations. What
you need to do if considering the facility as place to house a loved one, you
ask the Director of the facility about each violation and what they have done to
ensure that it doesn't happen again.
