IDENTIFY A POTENTIAL STROKE VICTIM
Read and Learn!: Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify.
Unfortunately, the lack of awareness
often spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people
nearby fail to recognize the symptoms
of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking
three simple questions:
1. Ask the individual to SMILE:

2. Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS:
3. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE:
If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks,
CALL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY
AND DESCRIBE SYMPTOMS TO THE DISPATCHER.

DONATIONS ARE NEEDED
Because of rising costs associated
with postage and printing we need your
help. If positive changes are ever going
to be made to Missouri’s long-term care
industry, it is imperative that we educate
and inform Missourians on quality
care issues.
With each dollar contributed we can
reach more people with our newsletter
and other information products. To maintain
our independence we do not accept
funding from government sources or
companies or individuals associated
with the long-term care industry. We rely
upon you.
