Information and Updates

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day – June 15

Although elder abuse was first recognized in the U.S. in the late 1970's, it remains in the shadows of the public consciousness. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is an opportunity to focus much needed international attention on the problem. Every community that participates will intensify the message that "our elders deserve better." For information and ideas, click here.

2009 Nursing Home Violations page has been updated 6/13/2009.

The Hotline Calls page has been updated through to Fiscal Year 2008.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is required by law to maintain an Elder Abuse and Neglect "Hotline" (1-800-392-0210) which can be used by any member of the general public. Anyone who has witnessed or suspects the abuse or neglect of an elderly or disabled individual is asked to report the incident to the State by using the hotline number.

www.211missouri.org: This website is sponsored by the Missouri United Way. It provides information on a new resource number you can call to find services in your area of the State of Missouri. An example is finding a food pantry in your area. If you have a child with a learning impairment they assist you in finding help. You lose power during a heat wave or need temporary shelter. A frightened spouse seeks a safe haven. You need counseling for a troubled teenager. Day care information. A senior adult wants to volunteer or seek services. You are looking for employment or a way out of debt. All you need to call is 2-1-1.

MCQC Honors the Krambecks

After 12 years of serving in various capacities for the Missouri Coalition for Quality Care, Hank and Phyllis Krambeck have decided to step down from their activities with the Board. To honor them, MCQC held a celebration of them on December 13, 2008. Read more about the Krambeck's and the new Krambeck Award...

Our Student News page has been updated with information on some awards and research being done at Truman State University. Check out our Eta Sigma Gamma page for more information.
