The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is required by law to maintain an Elder Abuse and Neglect "Hotline" (1-800-392-0210) which can be used by any member of the general public. Anyone who has witnessed or suspects the abuse or neglect of an elderly or disabled individual is asked to report the incident to the State by using the hotline number.
Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services employees respond to phone calls and are required to gather as much information about the abuse or neglect as possible from the caller. They will ask the caller for their name but the caller is "not" required to provide their identity. Phone calls are then evaluated and prioritized based upon their perceived severity.
Below is a graph which reflects the number of hotline calls that have been received by the Department of Health and Senior Services during the past six (6) State fiscal years. State fiscal years run from July 1 through June 30 the following year. For example for Fiscal Year 2006 the time frame is July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006.
